What do we do?

Our app notifies you every time one of your representatives votes, and asks for your reaction. During an election cycle we take those reactions and send you your rep report card — a measure of how much you liked the actions your rep took during their term. With this information, make sure you vote for the candidates who actually act on your values, not just the ones who say they do or who spend the most on ads.

Why did we do this?

We are a small, independent team planning to build more tools like this to help our country grow and heal in the coming years. Whatever background, culture, or party you come from, as an American you have a right to be heard. We also believe that our democracy works best when your representatives are accountable to you, not the other way around. With Politinow, you take that power back into your own hands.

How it works

We have a database that connects all representatives with their districts and every bill they have voted on. We get this information from congress-legislators and the congress GitHub API, which are community-maintained tools for reading that information from government websites. We use those databases to send you all the appropriate information every time a vote occurs.

Privacy

We do not store or use any information such as your device location, app usage rates, or any other metadata. We only store information directly submitted by you. Eventually we hope to sell collective user data to representatives so we can afford to maintain and improve this tool — but if we ever do so, there will be no identifying information (such as emails) included in those sales.
